The staff at OCS hold a variety of events throughout the year. These events are a great time for students to build on their social skills through developing friendships with their peers as they participate in fun activities. Events range from dances to painting to bowling or swimming to game days or movie days and so much more! Most of these activities are free, however, some do require a minimal participation fee. Students can choose to participate in just one activity a year or all of them depending on his/her interests. And as always, our highly skilled staff are there to help.
For this after school event, students had a choice of either painting a taped off birch tree painting or a Starry Night pumpkin themed painting. Each student received step-by-step instructions on how to create the painting they chose so that all students could succeed in making their paintings! Halfway through painting, students took a break and enjoyed some apple cider and donuts. Overall, students had a great time painting with their friends and some amazing artwork was created!

Each day allowed for students to participate by dressing fun dress up days at school!
Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Oakstone Day
Wednesday: Class Color Day
Thursday: Twin Day (Choose a friend and dress alike)
Friday: Costume Day & Dance (No masks or weapons allowed)
An after school Costume Dance wrapped up this fun-filled week by allowing the students to dance in the gym while wearing their costumes. Click here to view images from this event.
Students were asked to invite a friend or family member that is a Veteran to join them for the pancake breakfast. The art classes created decorations for our cafeteria. One of the students lead the Veterans and their students in the Pledge of Allegiance. Another student recited a Veteran’s Day poem, “We Owe Them a Lot”, by Joanna Fuchs. Students from different classes helped prepare and serve Thanksgiving food to all students and staff to sit together and eat.
For our first OSU vs Michigan Pep Assembly we had a food drive as well as a reading challenge leading up to the assembly. Not only was the winner of the reading challenge announced, but we had a Biggest OSU Fan challenge and played different games where the students completed mini-challenges. One of our classes made red and gray mini pom poms for each student to cheer on their friends. We ended our assembly with the OSU Alumni Band playing many of their best known marching band songs.
